Star Ceiling Systems: Bespoke Fibre Optic Supply & Installation
UK Specialists in Star Ceilings for Home Cinema, Residential Pools & Leisure Spaces
At Imperial, we are the UK’s leading specialists in bespoke fibre optic star ceilings, providing a complete end-to-end supply & installation service. Our high-performance systems use precision-engineered starlight technology to create a breathtaking night-sky effect, specifically designed for home cinemas and indoor swimming pools. As professional installers, our CSCS-qualified team ensures every star light ceiling we fit meets the highest fire-rated standards for a flawless, nationwide finish.

How Our Fibre Optic Star Ceiling System Works
Our fibre optic star ceiling system uses precision-engineered side-emitting and end-lit fibre optic cable threaded individually through a fire-rated stretch fabric membrane. Each strand terminates flush with the ceiling surface, creating a sharp, clean pinpoint of light that mimics the appearance of a real star.
The fibre optic cables are connected to a single LED light source unit, which is housed above the ceiling membrane and completely out of sight. Because there are no individual LED bulbs at ceiling level, there is no heat, no UV emission, and no maintenance access required above the membrane — the entire system is controlled and, if ever needed, serviced from the light source alone.
The LED light source is available in two configurations: a white-only version for classic star effect ceilings, and a full RGBW colour-changing version for dynamic lighting effects in home cinemas, pools, and entertainment spaces. Both versions include a dedicated remote control and support DMX integration for smart home and automation systems.
Fibre counts and star density are specified per project. A typical home cinema star ceiling might use 200 to 400 individual fibres across a 15m² ceiling. For a swimming pool or larger residential space, we commonly specify higher density configurations to achieve a more immersive night-sky effect.

Star Light Ceiling Installation: What to Expect
A star light ceiling installation from Imperial is a fully managed process, handled end-to-end by our specialist team. Here is what the process looks like from enquiry to completion:
Consultation: We discuss your space, intended use, fibre density, and lighting control requirements. For a home cinema star ceiling, this typically includes the choice of white or RGBW, integration with existing AV or smart home systems, and the desired ambience.
Design and manufacture: Your stretch fabric ceiling panel is custom-made to the exact dimensions of your space. Fibre optic cables are individually threaded and terminated during manufacture, so the panel arrives on site ready to install.
Installation: Our CSCS-qualified fitters install the perimeter fixing profile, position the LED light source unit above the ceiling void, and tension the membrane into place. A typical residential star ceiling installation takes one to two days.
Commissioning: We set up and test the lighting controls, connect the DMX interface if required, and walk you through operation of the system.
Star ceiling installations are available for home cinemas, indoor swimming pools, master bedrooms, playrooms, and commercial leisure environments. Every installation is individually designed and priced.
